All students of Monash University who wish to be
recognised members of the CRIMON society are to adhere to the following
guidelines and specifications
The criteria for individuals who wish to be recognized members of the CRIMON organisation are to have the following criteria;
First year students of Monash South Africa, who are interested in joining the CRIMON Society, are to be put onto a probation list. The members will then be observed by the Criminology lecturers and a final list of who is applicable to the society will be given to the President of CRIMON. The list will then go into the Committee Member Meeting and as a result the participants will be contacted and informed of their successful or unsuccessful application.
Second year and higher students of Monash South Africa, who are interested in joining the CRIMON Society, must give their names and student numbers to any of the Committee members. In the next Committee Member Meeting, the committee will then vote on whether the applicants application is successful. This will be done with the advice from the Staff member of CRIMON.

- Completion of first year criminology – qualification includes Criminology 1001 as well as Criminology 1002 for specific trips.
- Members are to be interested, punctual and dedicated to class participation.
- Members are to be involved in at least one community project.
- All members of CRIMON must adhere to the above specified in addition to payment of a R70.00 annual membership fee.

required to obtain their own contacts within the field of criminology, which
the member is interested in.
All contacts made will be given to the President of the Society and a record will be made of all contacts and a database made.
Should a member get the opportunity to obtain a field trip, from his / her contact, the following criteria will be followed;
The individual who organises and confirms the chosen field trip will have first preference of member selection to accompany them.
However, each field trip organised will be overseen by at least one committee member and selections of accompanying members will be rotational.
All members who attend field trips, do community engagement or do research are to follow the code of conduct set out by the CRIMON Society committee.
Any members who do not follow the code of conduct set out, will be required to attend a hearing my the committee of the CRIMON Society and the Monash South Africa Staff Member of the Society.

Membership Involvement
First year students who have been
put onto the probation list, must in their first year attend at least one
community engagement project with CRIMON. Only once the applicant has attended
and completed one community engagement project, will the application be looked
at.
Second year students who are CRIMON members, must have attended at least one community engagement project. In addition all second year members will be liable for the collection of data for research. Second year member involvement will be mainly in the research side of CRIMON, unless stated otherwise by the President or Vice-President of CRIMON.
Third year and higher members, will be involved in the practical side of elements of CRIMON. This includes doing field trips and attending any practical courses. However, every third year or higher member must have attended or done at least one research project.
